6/17/18. Fathers Day. Driving to Greenesboro, NC.

Camping at KOA Greensboro Campground for 3 nights. It's time to fix a few things with the van. Tripped a few breakers and blew a few fuses. Camping World couldn't help us except for some advise.   Swam in pool. Did laundry.  Reorganized van after it was obvious that the van frig was not working. Turned the frig off and cleaned it out. Now it is a cupboard for food and pans. Was able to reorganize clothing so that the wardrobe closet is less crowded. Vacuumed. John worked on the awning.  Tonight is the Paul Simon Concert. Lyft will pick us up so that I don't have to drive in the horrific concert traffic. Tomorrow we plan to head towards Myrtle Beach. Trip is right around 1900 miles and $500 gas.  Paul Simon Concert was unbelievable!!  He feels music in every cell of his body, from the top of his head to the tips of his toes.  His musicians are so talented.

6/16/18 changed plans. Driving to Kinston, NC

After looking at a map we realized that we were very close to Kinston, NC.  Our reservations to eat at Vivian Howard's restaurant, Chef and the Farmer, are for Thursday and this is Saturday.  They were very accommodating and offered two reservation options for tonight. The 7:00 PM kitchen bar seating was a perfect set up to watch the kitchen staff prepare a mirage of meals. Our vegan assortment included flash fried collards in peanut oil, Carolina Risoto with shiitake mushrooms, peas, almonds, and parsley garnished with a pickled watermelon radish, and a beet salad.  Chef Luke keeping orders organized. The wood burning stone oven is directly behind Luke.  Yard bird, trout.  Duck. Prime rib.  Shaking the collards.  The scrumptious collards.  A Magic Mule. The lime was a perfect pairing with the collards.  BLT Pizza made fresh.  Beet salad.  The pastry chef assembling desserts in the back ground.  Lovely flowers.  Across the...

6/15/18. North Carolina Out Banks area

Dismal Swamp Canal Rest Area is a great stop and informative park center.  Draw bridge to let boats pass by rest area.  Wright Brothers Memorial at Kitty Hawk.  A stop well worth the hour or two in the hot sun.  This is a flight memorial rest area just before the Wright Brothers Memorial.  The top of the monument on the hill is the height of the hill when the Wright brothers first flew their glider from the sandy hill.   The hanger. The three stones in the middle document the length and time of the first three glider flights.  The fourth flight is way beyond the picture.    Stickers to remember the stop.  The monument on top of the hill.  Looking away from the direction of flight. The sand dunes are in the back ground. Kill Hill.  Look one direction and then 180 degrees the ther direction.  Nag Head and wild life preserves and light house.  I stayed on the boardwalk.  Spent some time watching this white heron....

Virginia Beach  Water 71 F.  90 F plus outside.  Camped at Holiday R Travel RV Park.  1300 sites. $70.  4 pools.  Showers sort of wierd. Water soft sprays out of the ceiling. Can't adjust direction or flow. Different decorations through out grounds.
