7/2/18 today's destination is HOME

Driving through St Louis on a Saturday morning went smoothly.  Last stop on the road was visiting my cousin in Keokuk.  Made it home at 5PM after 5200 miles in just less than 4 weeks.

7/1/18. Another 400 mile day trying to make it to St. Louis

'We thought we would make it to Memphis to see Graceland.  It was too hot and we wanted to get home. Not only that, the roads around Memphis are horrific.  I really don't want to drive those roads again.   The Mississippi Welcome Center was one of the best.  We knew we were out of Florida when there were hills.  We made it to Perryville, MO at 8:30. I really wanted to make it St. Louis but a thunderstorm was coming and there was a campground in the town. It took us 45 minutes minutes to find it, but we did.  Couldn't find how to check in late so we ended up not paying. Not something we like to do.  As we drove out the park early the next morning I saw the sign on the way ther side of the building. I sat back after driving and John cooked supper.

6/30/18 serious driving towards Birmingham, AL

Drove just about 500 miles today.  We have home on our mind and 1200 miles to go. Almost to our stopping spot for the night and the was a horrible get back up of traffic due to an accident.  Alabama Welcome Center  the National Peanut Festival is held down the highway.  A sample of a vegan lunch that we made while traveling.

6/29/18 driving to Palm Harbor, FL

We drove Highway 41 north towards Tallahasee. I liked avoiding the interstate.  Driving the state highway meant a lot of stop and go traffic through a lot of towns and cities.  It's the Tamiami Scenic Byway.  Quite ironic when most of the day's scenery was traffic jams. Trying to enjoy the traffic. Finally we reached the flat roads of Florida.  John saw this poster last spring when he was in n Florida picking up our new camper van.  He really wanted to go there.  We were camping at Palm Harbor which was 45 minutes further down the road.  We had nothing else to do for the evening so we ventured out in the traffic again.  It wasn't too bad getting there. It was a fun Friday night in a lively establishment.  I chose crab fries and then an order of grouper  bites. Yummy.  The crab fries were French fries topped with crab. John had an assortment ofvegan dishes.

6/28/18 5 hours on Bowman Beach, Sanibel

Many ways to enjoy the beach.   The body board that I'm giving to my 9 year old granddaughter.  Finally John spent some time in the water.  I used my water proof cell phone bag that I purchased at Bailey's to take the pictures in the water. Parking at this beach was free with th John's handicap permit. The ironic thing is we had to walk 1/2 mile from parking to beach.  During one of the trips over a bridge John saw a manatee and 8 crocodiles. I missed them all. I saw some jumping fish.

6/28/17 pictures of our Sanibel home at Periwinkle Park

View outside the camper.  The campground housed many different birds and animals.  A monkey playing with a blossom  These ducks have blue bills.
